Each year we have KS4 mentoring. This is essentially coffee and biscuits (without the coffee) I believe that talking about some time management tactics, and some aspirations, is useful enough. To give students some undivided attention to talk about their hopes and fears has no immediate benefits that are tangible, but I believe that such an experience is useful, nevertheless.
The table to be used is shown below. As you can see, it doesn’t involve pseudo-counselling. It does involve students making achievable (SMART) worthwhile commitments to themselves and (in front of) others.
