Recently I have been concerned about what in my teaching practice really is in the best interest of the students. While we support students the best we can with a firm hand, I must admit that over the past few years I have felt that I have perhaps supported students to the extent that I have protected them from the full consequence of their actions.

I think part of this is the desire to try to keep students as ‘happy’ as possible. As if happiness is, in itself, something to aspire and aim to in life (albeit not a prime aim of the education system).
