On Friday I attended an Early Leaders meeting, which was rather apt as I was one of the first ones to arrive. It was in the beautiful town of Pickering where I used to work. I appreciated the chance to reflect on a few of things that I am doing now, and the chance to make a little space to reflect on some of the things that I am doing now. Not least because this is the week prior our exams.
Amongst several things I was reintroduced to Geoff Petty. Right now I’m liking the idea that there are straightforward adjustments to my teaching; stuff that, frankly, can be implemented easily. That, and those adjustments have some basis in research as making a real difference.
So, what does that mean? For me it means that the regular use graphic organisers would be an apt of my recipe of starters. That, and the ability of students (and myself) to choose which organiser to use.
As with all such things, to practise what you preach is good for the soul, if nothing else. Therefore, I am to post (for my students and for myself) my personal use of graphic organisers in daily thinking life.
