One project to save time is creating a school calendar. Often the systems in doing so are not reliant on the technology but rather the human system that populates it.
Currently we create a school calendar using excel. Our office manager does an excellent job in collating all the information given to her. However, I have wondered if Google Calendar or Outlook would help her by repeating the information each year.
While Google Calendar has the option for embedding, Outlook is more compatible with what we already use. Therefore, I think that using outlook, and then exporting the file once a half-term, might be a suitable ‘compromise’ between the two systems.
This school uses an embedded Google Calendar with success: http://www.porchester.notts.sch.uk/xtras/calendar.html
Shortly after writing this post, @daveterron sent me a link to this, which may solve the issue of syncing google calendar and outlook. Twitter, and its communities, can be amazing! http://support.google.com/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en-GB&answer=98563
