My students today began reflecting on planning to argue. Below are some exemplar plans.

Students were called on to consider the purpose of:
Having a specific focus (allows you to explore other aspects and yet return to the thread of your argument)
Maintaining a balance between thinking of ideas, and structuring them (brainstorming and numbering)
Discerning audience/purpose/form (some students found this tricky – a useful revision task)
The best plans were able to:
devise other points from the main points.
occasionally devise a line of thinking through 3 layers of points, each one leading to the other
link points together from several ideas
number the order of points, and where they might appear
