One project to save time is creating a school calendar. Often the systems in doing so are not reliant on the technology but rather the human system that populates it.

Currently we create a school calendar using excel. Our office manager does an excellent job in collating all the information given to her. However, I have wondered if Google Calendar or Outlook would help her by repeating the information each year.

While Google Calendar ┬áhas the option for embedding, Outlook is more compatible with what we already use. Therefore, I think that using outlook, and then exporting the file once a half-term, might be a suitable ‘compromise’ between the two systems.

This school uses an embedded Google Calendar with success: http://www.porchester.notts.sch.uk/xtras/calendar.html

Shortly after writing this post, @daveterron sent me a link to this, which may solve the issue of syncing google calendar and outlook. Twitter, and its communities, can be amazing! http://support.google.com/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en-GB&answer=98563
